Foaming TPU Filament

(First Build Question) Just about to start printing the cushions from Foaming TPU. I purchased a roll of Siraya Tech Flex TPU Air, but just got an email for a different Siraya Tech product available on Amazon that looks like it would better match the PETG color. Has anyone tried this and can share feedback? It’s pricey, so I’d like to have confidence that it will work well before spending $50. Thanks for any advice!

I’ve heard of that one, it’s more bouncy and thus better for shoes, but I have no experience with it.

Ohhhh, they have a lilac color now! Previously it was just white, black or some neon green. I made a post about my positive experience with Sirayas 85A a few weeks ago. I might have to give this a try =)

This is different than the TPU Air, not sure how different but I like that they have other colors.

Actually it is TPU Air, you can see the label (might be some branding thing) but it also looks like they have a few other colors too! Aqua, Mint , Peach and Peony? My biggest issue with this type of TPU was I didn’t want white or black but now it’s starting to pique my interest.

Yeah seems like their roamr version which is geared towards shoes is getting more colors than regular tpu air.

I would be cautious about buying this filament. While the shore hardness is in the same range as the TPU air, the filament feels different. You would need to purchase some regular TPU Air and print the cushions using the provided profiles, then dial in the Roamr Air settings (temp and infill) to match the feel and support characteristics of the existing profiles.

It would be great if someone did that testing and contributed it to the community, but this isn’t just a drop-in replacement.

I wish the lilac wasn’t so pricey. I’d love to try a roll.

The TPU Air filaments are pricey, but they go a good bit farther than a standard roll of filament does.

I already use the black and white but they are not so expensive and come in 1kg rolls. The lilac is only 800g on a roll.

Ahh I hadnt noticed that. So far I have only bought one spool of the TPU Air in the beginning. One of these days I will try it again and see if I can get the stringing mess better lol.

Also I edited your post, you must have replied from your email and it put your full name and phone number out for the whole internet so I took that off for you.

I took the plunge and ordered a roll. I will update the post with my experience once it comes in. I appreciate everyone’s input and feedback.

Here is one machine’s opinion on the matter:

Important boundary

For the MakeGood-style toddler mobility device, these printed cushions can be iterated as practical custom supports. They should not be assumed to provide clinical pressure-injury protection based only on filament selection or hand-feel testing. For a child who will spend substantial time seated, has limited repositioning ability or has elevated skin-integrity risk, the completed seating system should be evaluated by a pediatric seating clinician or ATP. Numotion describes pediatric evaluation as including a physical assessment, pressure mapping, adjustments and an equipment trial period.

The material decision is therefore:

Use Flex TPU Air first for toddler seat, back and headrest cushioning. Reserve Roamr TPU Air HR for a controlled comparison or for cases where the Flex cushion demonstrably lacks recovery or durability.

I purchased some of the Flex TPU Air and continued your chat and asked it about Bambu nozzle selection. Since I haven’t printed it yet, here is what it suggested. (Mostly so I can remember in the future and get feedback from people that have tried.)
