When do you start building?

First timer here!

Do you print everything and stick it in a box for example until you’re ready to build it up?

Or do you print and build piece by piece? Being my first time I fear I may make some errors and so might be easier to find a logical order to print and build as I go?!

Thanks!

I have always printed all of the pieces, then taking the PDF with the step by step assembly manual - put it togethers.

Yes, I use one of the boxes from the full kit on schoolhouse, each part goes in the box until it’s complete and then it’s sit down and remove support time, followed by build time.

We can’t upload PDFs here, but I use this as a checklist. A few spaces at the bottom for the custom stuff.

I try to print things in the order that they need to be assembled, and the assemble as I go. That way I’m not having parts laying around all over the place. I still have things all over, but at least I’m trying

I print things in whatever order the print times line up with me being home and able to start another print when they finish. Then assemble when pieces are available.

I use something similar - I group by color as best I can. Very useful for not duplicating parts you already have.

Lots of different ways then I guess.

That’s something I didn’t consider, printing so as to use reels efficiently! Maybe I’ll do by color, then by piece to use reels effectively, then timed to fit my schedule, then build!

Excited

@MakeGoodScott any filament ín stock yet?

I think I saw where he said a couple more weeks for the filament to be in

I use a Gantt timeline chart (yes CDO - like OCD but alphabetical..lol) I put when I’m at work, sleep, parties, kids events. I keep the printers running 23-24 hours a day…lol

Thank you for everything your doing for this project. It is crazy, this is your business. Is this unusual? I’ve only been printing for 2 years, but I’ve never seen this many companies out of PETG. UJOYBIO - I’ve used their Pink, have a few rolls and was looking for just a few to use on a new TMT. They have maybe 30 colors of PETG, they only have 16 kg of skin tone left… asked when they are expecting more PETG - JULY…

Without getting into an area that shouldn’t be discussed here between the tariff shock and the oil price shock in china its not surprising to me theres currently a shortage of PETG. Everyone was waiting for better pricing. traditionally my filament quotes from the factory were good for 30 days. This last round 24 hours. Between some quotes it was 50c a kg difference days apart.

To get you an idea of lead times I’m preparing my order for November delivery now. Allowing the factory to not rush and combine my order with other orders over a period of a couple months allows better pricing. Less line change overs for them.
