3d Render of all parts combined to choose colors

Hi - Is there a 3mf of a completed wheelchair fully assembled? Want to plan out a color strategy for a build and would like to see the individual pieces when they are colored how the finished product will look assembled.

There is a step file of the completed chair 3D TMT PUBLIC FILES - Google Drive

I looked before and just checked again. I don’t see it, unless I am totally missing where it is on the Drive. I don’t see it in the STEP folder or other folders.

Forgive me because I am sure I am just missing it, but I don’t see a step file for the complete chair, just all the individual pieces. Can you point me to a file name?

ive added ‘TMT Top Assembly - RENDERING ONLY’ to this folder - STEP FILES - Google Drive

Note its not 100% updated - its missing the headrest and push handle, and some other minor parts. This is from an earlier version. Thats why I added ‘rendering only’ so people know never to print from this file.

Thank you that should help. The OP had a great idea with this. Hopefully soon you can put the current complete file in there. Then we have the option to send renderings before we start printing.

I would love to stand up some sort of online configurator at some point

That would be awesome! Are there any plans for an app for the dashboard?

not plans just yet, but something we are thinking about

Thank you for adding this!!! It was nice to be able to render it out before we get too far into printing.

Thats amazing, what tool did you use for rendering?

I opened the step file in Bambu studio. I had to split it into parts and then just set the filament color I wanted for each part. It took a little while but now I have it saved and should be faster next time.

@NWCC Thank you so much!!!
@MakeGood_Noam Another suggestion is to use the “Assembly” view feature of the 3mf files

I assembled it with the push handle, and if anybody wants the file to save some time, you can download it (not perfect): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aWAa0BR2ptqJjP9WDcEdoAtaZukrV0Ei/view?usp=sharing

Does anybody know why the coloration of some parts such as 3DTMT D2 STORAGE RIGHT is off? They have the same filament selected in this screengrab.

@KitsWorkingHands You are amazing, thank you. I started doing the same thing yesterday, but then I realized how tedious it was. I was planning to finish it this weekend when I don’t have a work day

I don’t think you need to build a whole new system for this. Bambu/Orca already has something that should do what you’re looking for. Check out Assembly View, they even have a setup guide, and it should work with Orca Slicer too.

Once it’s configured, a printer can assign colors to the parts across all the plates and then jump into Assembly View to preview how everything will look together, similar to the STEP file that was uploaded.

no need for seperate 3mf files just for color, no need for a website

That’s great, thank you very much, @KitsWorkingHands .

Just in case someone gets lost on how to use it (as I did), I’m sharing here it here:

  • change the colors from the materials with the ones you have or are considering to use;
  • open the Object/part settings;
  • then you change each part to use the material/color in this new window

You can also do it straight from the ‘objects’ panel, as pointed in the image below:
