Would it be possible to introduce a volunteer courier role for this project? There may be plenty of people who want to support the cause and help facilitate chair transport, but who don’t have access to a 3D printer themselves. Involving non-printing volunteers to handle logistics could also significantly ease the burden of coordinating drop-offs at locations with strict or limited hours, such as schools and clinics.
Love the idea. I would love to be able to build chairs to go all over the country / world.
I really love this also, I have a build in NY, I’m in NJ. Probably only an hour away, but timing to get out there sucks. I would love to meet the family, but if I had someone local who said, I’ll be in that area tomorrow, I’d gladly hand them the TMT.
I’ve had this thought to figure out how to link up retired folks to do such a thing. Not sure how to out reach to them.
I’m a retired old geezer who thought it would be great to buy a Bambu printer and print toys and stuff. A second printer soon appeared and the two of them gave birth to a third. I’m so busy now printing wheel chairs (number 6 is printing now) that I would need a courier too!
I bet Biker folk like doing things like this.. I think. Any excuse for a long ride
To keep it simple: what if we have people sign up with the cities or distances they’re willing to drive, and just use the messaging feature to coordinate? Once we get a routine down, we could set up sign-ups for different ‘legs’ of the trip. I’ve seen Animal Rescues do this to move pets from Oklahoma to Iowa in 3-4 hour shifts—it could be a great way for us to expand our network.
