Graphics, decorations on chairs

I have seen some really neat graphiocs or stickers or something on some of the chairs. I am just wondering how people are doing their decorations on theirs. Thank you

Especially the Spidey TMT. It had wheel webs and a spider descending on a web. Very cool. I was asked for the “Butterfly Chair” I had to let them know they were stickers and you can personalize your TMT however you wish. Not like I’m looking to add “work” to the process lol.. I added up the hours from my spreadsheet. Just under 500 (I do print slow) not counting 4 days of TPU trial and error (read failures lol).

The Spiderman chair was done by me and was actually my very first build. I used my Cricut vinyl cutter to cut out the graphics and after a little trial and error, found that car vinyl actually worked MUCH better than traditional vinyl (Cricut, Oracle…) at adhering to the filament. And you are right, it does add a little work and cost to the build but man it was fun!!! Especially since I have craft ADHD.

Best of luck with your build and I am sure that the recipient is going to be so excited!!!

That’s a great question. Thanks for asking. I was wondering if I could mesh boolean symbols into the wheels as long as it was only one or two layers thick. Definitely don’t want to get into the structural areas of any piece.

you are totally fine to add symbols printing in different color on the wheels. plenty of builds are doing that

Hi - I am currently doing a Bluey theme and found the characters on Makerworld. After I printed them, I used super glue for 3D prints to attach them. I even found a little coaster to use for the middle of the wheel. On my first one, I painted the flowers on.

I do my images in a graphics program (I use CorelDraw), export as SVG. Import into Bambu with the wheel pieces. I make them .6 thick so they are only in the wall layers, not structural.

I do the wheel caps the same way, when needed, making sure they match the images on the wheels.

I think the most important thing is to make sure the settings don’t change, just the image is added.

The wheels are my favorite part because I get to customize!

Ok that is cool! After you make the SVG and import into Bambu, how are you getting it laid out on the wheel pieces like that?

I made a template that I lay over my image that divides it into the 4 pieces of the wheel. I import each piece separately.

Flip the image so its face down, place the wheel piece over it and line it up with the wheel piece.

I’m hoping that makes sense!

The first one is a real pain! But they turn out so great that I have designed so many wheels I won’t possibly be able to make all these TMT’s!!

Let me know if you need any more clarification and I will try. A teacher I am not!!

I think I follow. Going to give it a try here in the next few days and If I get lost I will report back. Thanks!!!

Seriously, first one is rough! But they get easier!

And I’m happy to help if I can!

Oh I get that for sure! Al though for me, usually every 3rd or 4th is rough again because I let too much time pass in between and forget how I did it

That is greatly appreciated! I am sure I will be reaching out  I “think” I have a good plan for the SVG (I don’t use corel draw) but we will see how it works out. I need to open the step files and get a good measurement for the wheel pieces so I can make my template as well.

I love how you labeled and organized the straps i need to do this!

Can you link the bluey designs those will be my next!

Would you be willing to email me these to use on my blue TMT i’m making?

Another hint, I use Corel. So depending on your graphics program it may play out a little different. But make your vector image completely curves. Minimal nodes. the simpler the better. You can import any SVG, but Bambu doesn’t like a lot of detail and it often gets corrupted in the import.

If you notice this, ungroup, reduce nodes, change to curves, etc. Anything to minimize the details

So, I’m pretty new to 3D printing. DO I send it as an STL, or…? I guess I’m just not sure how to do it to keep all of the settings right. But, if someone can walk me through that part, I’m happy to share!

I also have a vector image of the wheel pieces (4) that I use to lay out to divide the pic and make sure it’s lined up.

Let me know if anyone would like that.

This is what I want to learn how to do! I’ll start the learning process when I get home. These wheels are amazing!! Thanks for sharing…

Here you go. I had to reduce the Bluey and Bingo down to, I think 45% and I can’t remember what I reduced the coasters down to, but you should be able to measure for the size you need. Have fun!
