Tire Texture when multiple pieces on plate?

I did my first tires with TeqStone TPU 95a on my Bambu A1. 8 tire parts to a plate as in the file. Dried filament prior still got a lot of stringing and so moving forward I am going to print individually, I think. But what I noticed is a texture, which looks nice but isn’t smooth like I in the build video and pictures. As I print one now individually on my CR-10 SE, it’s smooth. It’s almost like I had ‘fuzzy skin’ on but I did not apply it to the model. I plan on still using them but didn’t know if anyone else had same experience or not when printing the 8 to a plate?

stringing with TPU is extremely normal. A small torch/lighter/heat gun will take care of the stringing real easy. As far as the “fuzzy skin” that’s a new one for me. None of mine have come out that way yet.

This almost looks like fuzzy skin!

I’ll keep an eye out for this when I try. Do most people do the 8 in one plate? I was thinking of pribting by object for the tpu

I print 4 per plate on my smaller printer. But I’m not doing them “by object”. I think there will always be stringing with TPU, but a couple things that help:

  1. Turn on “Avoid crossing walls” in the slicer

  2. Use the “Paint on Seams” feature in the slicer to put all of the seams in one corner, so then it will be just that corner where you would need to clean it up (mostly)

I do 3 per plate, first I print slow. This for me finishes in about 21 hours. I start when I wake up and then start again when I wake up the next day.. and so on… and so on…lol I always try to time the plates so they finish early morning, when I get home from work, or before bed. I hate downtime because I print slow.

I print all 8 on one plate. Never had an issue.

I print 8, not using a dryer, in Florida humidity lol. Sometimes they come out extra stringy but a few seconds with the butane torch and you can’t even tell. If I ever pick up a H2* I will try to print as many as I can at a time lol.

What @TDK1013 said, this looks like fuzzy skin got turned on accidentally.

I generally do 8 on a plate, sometimes depends on when I want the print to finish or how much material is on the spool

I always print from a dryer

I do 8 to a plate on my Bambu Lab P1S, but they come out somewhat stringy and have to be cleaned up by manually plucking, rubbing or cutting off the strings with a small flush cutter (which I bought here for ~$14 + shipping: Maker's Supply Flush Cutter | Bambu Lab CA Store). I tried to print 4 tires at a time “by object” so the print head does not have to travel between parts on each layer (like I do for my straps) but the Bambu Studio slicer says the tire parts are “too high” when in print by object mode, so it looks like you would have to print them one at a time to try to eliminate most of the stringing. It usually takes me about 1.5 hours to clean up all the tires. I might try the heat gun approach and see if that works, but I’m concerned it may melt too much of the TPU. (I used my heat gun on a delaminating strap once, and the strap looked unacceptedly “melted” looking when I got done.) The print one at a time is an option, but that’s a lot of changeouts. Right now, I put 8 on in the evening, go to bed, and they are done in just under 16 hours using Bambu Lab 95A HF TPU.

I didn’t think about doing the straps by object. Great idea

Yes, printing straps by object eliminates almost all of the stringing and they come out almost perfect every time. Downside, I can only fit 4 straps on a plate at a time in print by object mode. I also print the 2 harness pieces separately on a single plate and they come out perfect that way.

Funny, I can print the harnesses and and the little buckle holders all on one plate no problem. I’ve had challenges printing multiple straps. I’m going to try print by object. I’ve been printing them one at a time when I’m home for the weekend so I don’t have any downtime.

By object is working incredibly well. 4 plates (two for straps, one for the chest harness, one for the clip holders) but it doesn’t add time overall. I was getting absolutely usable parts before, but these are basically perfect
