8 tires in 8 1/2 hours!

After seeing @TDK1013 suggestion for using a .8mm nozzle for the tires it got me curious. So I set out to see how much time I really could save with that. Using this nozzle and this filament, I was able to print a set of 8 tires in 8 1/2 hrs on my A1. And I think they came out really well too! Sorry, forgot to take pics before I pulled them off the plate :man_facepalming:

So one plate? That’s nice, I loaded up the perfect TPU profile and it wants 64 hours!

I have a .8, care to share the print settings or profile used?

I suggest starting with the single tire plate and see how it goes. Depending on your filament/nozzle you might need to slow down the Max Volumetric Speed on the filament.

I have a .8 nozzle I might try this as well. Is there a reason the whole chair isn’t being suggest to print in .8, doesn’t that make stronger parts?

Theoretically yes But I think you could start to get into fitment issues in places. But might be worth a try.

Any of you that try this out please post back and let us know how it goes! Also what filament you used! I would think any high speed 95a or any of the 98a “should” be able to do it, or at least close to it. Also might make a difference with my nozzle being a High Flow nozzle, but I don’t have a regular .8 to test with and confirm.

I will literally go buy a .8 HF nozzle today for this to try.

What settings and profile did you run for this? Mind sharing?

Just so happens Gigaparts is clearancing out the .8 HF nozzle for the H2D for a deal, so I’ll snag one!

Nice!! I sure wish I could remember who on here told me that the X2D/H/P2S nozzles will fit on the A1 so I could thank them! They have worked awesome and sped those printers up nicely!

I will report back later I won’t be printing tires for a bit. Waiting on Prime day to hopefully get TPU prices back to where they were before the price bumps before prime day.

I see you changed infill to 8% is that ok compared to the standard 15% they are?

They feel good to me. The infill is so much thicker with that big nozzle it makes up for it. Try printing just the one tire on the plate and see how it does and how it feels to you.

So you bumped the max flow from 12 to 18 mm3/s Because of the high flow nozzle?

I tried slicing a tire with the standard Geeetech TPU, using the 3 mm3/s but with a 0.8 vs the 0.4 and reducing the infill from 15 to 8%. It didn’t cut much time off at all.

What I am figuring is that using a 0.8 HF nozzle, I’d have to calculate the max flow to be able to cut any time using the .8 nozzle.

Does that make sense or am I on the wrong track? Thanks

High flow nozzle and High Flow TPU

Single tire you wont see much time savings, but a plate of 8 you should see a better difference.

The max volumetric speed is the limiting factor here. It is specifically because of the increased max volumetric speed that the time goes down .

You could run the Max Flowrate calibration from your slicer to see how much speed you can get from the nozzle. (I always set it to 80% of max measurement).

100% Agree with this. And I plan to do that with this nozzle/filament. I might be leaving more on the table than I realize right now.

Nice I have never used their TPU but I really like their PETG. Used it on my last chair for all the different blues on the Bluey wheel. They have a lot of colors and it’s pretty cheap for just buying 1 spool and not bulk.

I have almost bought this bulk deal from them a couple times just to have a bunch of colors for wheels.
