Bambu Labs PETG-HF

Hi there,

I tried to get ready to print this and I’m pretty much a newbie on 3d printing. Because of that, I went straight to Bambu Labs filaments and bought all the spools I could betting on PETG-HF. That also because I just couldn’t find Bambu Labs ‘PETG Basic’ here in Brazil.

And, must I say, I’m struggling to get this printed.

I managed to print 4 big parts (wings and foot rest) with 2 failures, and now I just can’t pass the second layer on the connectors plate. :frowning: The inside part of first layer gets rolled and creates a kind of snowball, every time this happens in a different part (this plate got many small parts).

I started to remove objects from the plate to see if the problem was with one of them, but sadly the problem always happens.

Even before starting this I noticed the Bambu Labs PETG-HF comes from the factory with quite a lot of moisture, and I’m drying all spools before use with a filament dryer.

My next attempt is actually going to be not using any adhesive, but I’m really not sure what I’m doing wrong, for now I’m suspecting this filament choice was not the best.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Feu

UPDATE: I managed to get ONE single connector printed without adhesive.

My apologies for your difficulties.

Bambu basic isn’t available anywhere, they only have ‘translucent’ and the ‘HF’ you are using.

please ensure you are using the Bambu HF profile in the slicer. It sounds you are having issues with the filament sticking to the bed. Give your print plate a really good cleaning after every part. I recommend Vision Miner Nano Polymer Adhesive for a bed glue. Drying will also help a lot.

If that doesn’t work, I also recommend trying some regular Petg from a trusted brand like Sunlu, it can be purchased for a good price.

let me know how it goes

Hi Noam,

Thanks for your reply.

As I managed to print 3 single connectors in a row without the glue, I tried again the plate without anything (just cleaning) and voila, it printed flawlessly.

Maybe the glue doesn’t go well with the PETG-HF… According to Gemini, many users reported that PETG-HF works really well with the PEI plate without glue (as long as it is clean).

Again, huge thanks for the project!

Good to hear! I used Bambu Lab PETG HF almost exclusively during development and actually found it prints and fits together better than standard PETG. I used an X1C, textured plate, and do not use glue. Anecdotal of course and I’m in a dry climate, but just figured it may be helpful to others reading.

This is helpful information! I’ll try Sunlu, maybe as the Bambu Canada store doesn’t have the basic PETG. They only have one limited HF, CF or Translucent for Canadians. I was eyeing the Red HF, but as a newbie 3D printer, perhaps sticking to Basic PETG is safer. Or ABS is in stock in Red, but I’m worried that it let off a smell, since the printer is in our basement home office with no window.

Oh this is more hopeful

I used SUNLU PETG on mine and it did great. At the time they were having a sale and I got direct from their website for $10.49. I always check their site and Amazon to see who has the better deal at the time. I used GEETECH TPU because SUNLU didn’t have the color I wanted. I dried it first and it did well too.
