What equipment and filaments do you need?

We recommend Bambu printers. They are easy to use, and every printer in the Bambu line (with the exception of the A1 mini) can easily print all parts of the 3D TMT.

That being said, any printer with the appropriately sized build plate should be capable of of producing the parts.

You will also need 10 spools of PETG and 3 spools of 95A TPU.

For more advanced users, we recommend using TPU AIR (aka Foaming TPU) for the cushions. See the Bambu MakerWorld page for more info.

Dry your filament, use a build plate adhesive, and be patient. It is a lot of printing!

Happy printing and good luck!

Hi! Is it possible to print with PLA filament?

Please do not use PLA as it is not strong enough - thanks

Hi there!

We are soooo exited to start this huge project.

First thing first, we have to choose wich colors we want it…

We know that we need ā€œ10 spools of PETG and 3 spools of 95A TPU.ā€ But what is the size of a spool is it 1kg, 500g, 250g?

If we want diffƩrent colors, how do we know how many of each color we need to buy?

It would be very Nice to have like Ơ virtual costumizer TMT. (Like in vidƩo game where you can choose what color you want your ride and with or without accessories) and it tells you exactly how many spools of each you need to buy with the color number and the link to get all your stuff. Like Ơ pre-filed cart.

Sooooo many choices for colors, hard to choose!!! Please we need help, we want to start as soon as possible!:folded_hands::star_struck::man_in_manual_wheelchair:

Hey! Thanks for the great question. A virtual customizer is a great idea, and maybe something we can implement in the future.

the spools are 1kg spools.

If you want to see how many grams a part is, it should tell you that in the Bambu app or on the slicer, then you can plan accordingly.

happy printing!

Thanks for the answer.
Seriously Noam, this project is just AMAZING. You (and all people behind the scene) are now on my list of my favorites superhumans! :man_superhero:
Question: How do you get to such a low manufacturing cost of 100-115$ if a spool is about 35$ (cookieCad) and we need like 13 of them? It’s more like 500$ . If you order it from you guys it’s completly free  ?
Does it mean that the TMT is going to weigh like 10kg or so?

Hey!

So yes the request form is free, but it may take some time. I encourage you to make it yourself. Cookiecad is relatively expensive, you are paying for the great colors.

There are plenty of vendors on amazon selling PETG for around $10-12$ per KG. Try to show around as much as possible to save on filament. Hope this helps!

I say budget for 10 KG, even though the PETG parts are only around 8KG, because a part may fail and need to be reprinted

And yes, the completed chair is around 20#.

Hope this helps

I am Middle School STEM teacher with a classroom full of kids excited about this idea. WE have two flashforge 5mPRO printers in our class and were wondering if anyone had the files cut to fit the 235mmx235mm bed size on that machine?

The printing isn’t started yet!:face_with_peeking_eye:

We just figured that the plate is 230 mm X 230 mm instead of 256 X 256.

What can we do for that? Can we downsize by 5% or have to find Ć  New printer or…?!

Please, help us! Thanks!

There are quite a few parts that can be printed on a smaller printer, but a lot of them will require a larger 256² build plate.

Hi Noam, It’s Sherry from Ontario. I’m excited to get started. I’m going to print the toddler trainer in Red with Black wheels, to associate the chair with Easter Seals Canada - Red Shirt Day last wednesday every May during National Access Ability Week.

Fingers crossed, Bambu Lab will restock the Red PETG HF tomorrow as the website suggested. I’m going to sign up as a volunteer for your program. I’ll also connect with my local Children’s Treatment Centre on Tuesday to connect with local families. .

Has anyone tried the PETG and TPU from schoolhousespools.com ? I would like to know how ā€œfastā€ these filaments can be printed at. Are there any images of a TMT printed with the blue or purple filaments that are part of the $100.00 kit ?

Are there any brands that we should stay away from that may have a higher failure rate?

We have been using school house material with no issues. We haven’t maxed out the speed settings so I can’t speak to that

The kits at Schoolhouse have shown ā€œsold outā€ for the past week. Do you have any indication of when they will be back in stock? Thanks!

Are you using the generic PETG profile or have you had to fine-tune it at all?

Just a heads-up. ā€˜Kits’ at Schoolhouse are still out, but overall with free ship for a dozen spools it’s reasonable, assuming it’ll print similar to Overture or Sunlu/BL (PETG). However, I’m only a few states away and they’re showing a delivery date around march 4th, so yeah - not sure if this is their ā€˜normal’ speed, but it’s not fast.

Guess will get started in pieces with what I’ve got on hand, but it’d be great to find a reasonably quick ā€˜pick your colors’ vendor. You can get black all day long discounted on Amazon, e.g. Overture (might want a band around the cardboard spools for AMS systems but it prints nicely) Amazon.com: OVERTURE 4KG Bundle PETG 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm, Neatly Wound Durable PETG 4 Pack 1kg(2.2lbs), Strong Toughness Filament, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.02mm, Fit Most FDM Printers (Black (4-Pack) : Industrial & Scientific or Sunlu for close-ish to $10/spool, but tougher to find in bulk other colors for projects like this one. Amazon.com: SUNLU PETG Filament 1.75mm 4KG Bundle, Less Stringing and Good Layer Adhesion, Individually Vacuum Packed, 3D Printer Filament 4kg, 1kg per Spool, Pack of 4, 4 Colors, 4 petg Black : Industrial & Scientific

So I have a FlashForge AD5X that has a print area of 220x220. Will that hamper my ability to print the necessary parts?
