Hey there! I’m looking into how the donation and fulfillment process works and had two quick ‘curiosity’ questions:
Sponsorships: The FAQ mentions sponsoring specific children, but I didn’t see a field for a build number in the donation window. If they select the Donation button on the request story, does it provide a confirmation that their donation is going to that specific request or is there another way for supporters to specify who they are donating to?
Maker Dashboard: When a kit is fully sponsored, how does that appear on the ‘Ready to claim’ list for a maker? Is there a status icon or a note we should look for?
Just trying to get a better handle on the flow. Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out. These features are quite ‘turned on’ yet. When we have filament and parts kits, we will turn on donations for kits. This will allow sponsorship of specific builds. It will also show on the map and in the claim information as a sponsored build. Once you claim that build you will receive an email with info on getting the free kit.
I’ve been thinking about this from a donor’s perspective—specifically, how to make it easy for people to find and fund builds right in their own neighborhood.
I work at a company with about 9,000 employees, and our owner is huge on local philanthropy (he actually owns an NBA team, so he’s got the means and the heart for it! ). My thought was to embed the TMT map directly onto my website. That way, my teammates can see exactly where the local requests are and follow the impact of their donations through to the finished result.
There’s already a way to embed the map in your website. Go to your Maker Dashboard and click on the Settings tab, and there’s a button to generate embed code.
I personally don’t have a website so that’s as much as I can help
Hi guys, it was never an issue with embedding the map into my website, it was mostly the experience someone has when wanting to donate and how they could decide to select a specific order. Even if the kits weren’t available yet, if there was still a way to cover the costs by the donations.
If I selected a build, put I could also include the cost of the materials to that build and then whoever would like to donate could base on that account. The maker would have to show proof of the cost of materials so that nobody doesn’t take advantage of the situation. Just a thought.
