Hello, everyone! I just completed my first build. Much was learned, and the second one should go much smoother. Can’t wait to get started!
That looks great!!! I am always afraid of using white, but I need to try it more!
I used white TPU on my first one. It looked great but I wonder if it would be challenging to keep clean.
@MonkeysUncle3D it looks like your wheels are mounted inside-out. The solid surface should face the outside. (I am not sure if that matters though, they should still function just fine).
According to the docs, they are the correct way. Thats the way I have been doing all of mine.
This is what has kept me away from White lol
Yes, you are correct. Unfortunately, I had already fixed the TPU rims to the wheels and locked them in place, so I wasn’t able to correct the orientation of the wheels without destroying them in the process. Lesson learned, and the device function is not affected, thankfully.
Well maybe I am the ones that is backwards lol.
@MonkeysUncle3D I see what @psychedup74 was talking about now. At least I think. Your TPU is correct but the wheel it’s self is on backwards. The flat side of the wheel should be out, and the TPU “grips” should be out like you have them.
Sorry about that @psychedup74 I read too fast and misunderstood. Glad it made me take a second look lol.
Yeah if they function fine I wouldn’t worry about it. With them facing that way, they looks more like car wheels ![]()
For some reason I thought the PEI textured plate finish was supposed to go in toward the side of the chair. I didn’t realize my error until I went to put the little wheel caps on and they wouldn’t fit!
we are in the middle of a discussion about wheel orientation. It doesnt seem to really matter. One of our wheelchair pros on staff thinks it might actually be BETTER to have those voids open to the outside. He thinks some kids may use them for grip/stabilization. We will do some testing. All good for us either way!
I thought the reason these voids were facing inward was to prevent kids from getting their fingers hit while TMT is being pushed?
Most kids just grip the top of the tire tread
This has been my experience as well
I meant when they are not gripping, but being pushed, or do not have adequate hand(s) control; if they let their hands hang on the side of the TMT, I can see how it can be caught on the side one of these openings.
