Great story on a Troop in Boston

This is great! I wonder if we’ll see a bunch more sign ups after this.

Lol @ 1:18, glad I’m not the only one who has trouble getting the push handle brackets to go on..

Who wants to tell them they put the wheels on wrong? DOH!

I’ve done that before :scream:

I think Noam has said the wheels can go on either way. Personally, I like them the “correct” way, with the flat side facing outward. I like the more simple look, and I like that I can use oddball colors to print the wheel pins. But I can see the argument for the other direction also.

You don’t want to put them on the wrong way. The wheel is designed so that one side has a hole that fits a bearing and the other side has a larger hole that fits the hubcap. If you reverse the wheels then the hubcap hole is on the inside and instead of having a bearing resting against the wheel block you will have the plastic wheel rubbing against it.

While this may seem to work it can cause problems:

  1. You can tighten the wheel too much and it won’t rotate freely

  2. You will have plastic rubbing against plastic which MAY eventually cause issues

  3. The bearing on the ‘hubcap’ side may eventually fall out since nothing is holding it in place

But don’t get me wrong, I love that the girl scout troop did this! I went to Boston University and lived in Boston for 10 years (GO Terriers) so I thought this was great. I just saw the wheel and winced a little

Looks like I’ll be doing a little presentation for a couple girl scout meetings, so I figured it would be worth bringing something for them… About halfway done
