JMcFly's First Build: #1627

Is your extrusion consistent? I’ve had similar issues in the past due to the tension being set too high or low on the extrusion head. I typically extrude and tighten or loosen the screw as it’s flowing to make sure the TPU is getting the correct “bite”.

Dang - I didn’t even know that is a thing… thankfully mine seems to be feeding well.

Still looks very stringy, and IMO needs to be dried more.

Do you have a dryer that can reach a higher temp? I dried mine at 75 for 18 hours and it came out very clean after that.

@JMcFly which of these are you using also?

The “better bridges, optimized retraction” seems to work best for me on this profile:

I wouldn’t worry about that little bit of stringing personally. That is super easy to clean up after with a heat gun or a bic lighter

I did 65 for 12 hours or whatever but I can o think go to 75. I wasn’t sure what temp for TPU and a quick search I went with 65.

Layers are bonding. My one test tire came out well.

I’m using the TPU assist module for the Bambu printers so the filament feed to the nozzle has got to be as consistent as it can get.

I’m not sure if I want to dry it as it prints. I was doing that before the TPU assist module was installed.

I didn’t use that one but I may save that one and try it on my next set of 4 tire segments

Hoping you end up liking the assist module since I ordered mine alreay

It seems to be doing the job. Not having to take the top glass off and macguyver some sort of exposed spool holder is nice.

It’s starting to be thunderstorm season here. I need to get a UPS on this printer

I’m with you about the UPS. I’m currently sweating bullets as a storm with tornado/flood watches just reached me and my head cushion has 20 min left. Just found a UPS to put on the printer before starting the next print. Good luck everyone in the path!

I have several of these on most of my printers. We get quick flashes all the time and these work great. Even the longer outages they surprise me with. Not the cheapest thing but they have worked extremely well.

I work in IT so o come across old UPS units a lot. I have three 1500 APC UPS units to put new lead in. I planned on rebuilding one next week

4 tires just finished and 3 of them were flawless and one had some surface imperfections on the hand grip portion. Layers all bonded fine.

@NWCC I’d say the TPU assist module has helped a lot

That is great news! Now hopefully mine will be in by the time I get home lol

I have 3 A1s and they have been awesome with my TPU parts. My X1C not so much.

I moved my UPS from my computer to the printer last night before kicking off another print. This morning, not a cloud in sight and my power blinks. Whew! I have another UPS on the way

I have a question about the 3mf file. I’m a newbie, hence the newbie question. I have the 3mf file and am using it. I open it in Bambu Studio, slice the plate, then print. However, I read in manual and Makerworld to use the pre-sliced files. The 3mf is forcing me to slice. Am I missing something?

I’m so glad you have been a single thread for your first build. I’m just toying around with my first now as I’m waiting to hear back from the family and have picked up a lot. Appreciate this group!

I’ve had to slice each place of the 3MF I downloaded from the Google Drive

So you’re good.

You can print from Handy with presliced files, any time you open in Bambu Studio you will have to slice. In the end as long as you don’t change any settings its the exact same thing
