JMcFly's First Build: #1627

Ah, I didn’t know printing from Handy would allow me to print from presliced files. Nice. When I open the 3mf in Bambu Studio, it lists out the preconfigured filaments and the 0.20mm Standard process settings. If I change the filament to SUNLU PETG or import Siraya TPU Air filament settings, does that change the structure? Also, for the process settings, toying around with changing line width, wall generation, order of walls, # of wall loops, etc., does that change the structure too much? I know for sure not to change the orientation and that the straps need to be printed by .4mm nozzle. I had to slow down the initial layer speed to get the SUNLU PETG to work, but I don’t think that would affect anything. It looks like it would require changing infill for soft handle, cushions, and tires.

So many questions…but I’m wanting to make sure I’m getting it right. Thanks so much!

Amazon had the DJI 1000 on sale the other day so I snagged one. Hard to find a UPS with 2000va or higher rating for less than $800.

Cool. It looks like it’s $399 right now. I was surprised the smaller UPS ran the printer; it did it’s job of keeping the A1 running while my husband and I ran downstairs to reset the breaker. My office was initially a bedroom, so it’s got a GFCI that tripped when the printer was still running as the power came back on. He is going to change the breaker out when he’s back in town.

4 more tire segments and 3 perfect and one with zits and blobs on the handgrip. I need to look at the file and see what’s happening

Take the one that keeps getting the zits and flip it the other direction on the plate. That way hopefully the imperfections will be on the “back side” of the tire.

Smart me would have made note of that before I pulled them off the plate.

Did it take a timelapse?

My memory card is always full. I thought it would just delete files and keep going. But it doesn’t. I need to get a bigger sd card

Oh well it was a last shot in the dark lol.

Rotate all 4 of them 180°

I should jut print the 8 at a time in the orientation they came in.

I’m not really happy with my first complete wheel assembly. The finger grips aren’t perfectly smooth and my 3/8 pieces are just ugly.

It hard to see in the pics but top left is pretty good. The others have the flaws on the hand grip portion.

I wonder if I change the wall printing from inner/outer to outer/inner if that will clean it up

I also noticed my build thread is more like a build log of every step and problem, ha! I hope this is useful to someone…but we wont be able to migrate this thread to the new forum… sad trombone sounds

Now that you have these tires almost figured out. I just saw the post on Instagram about a redesign of the tires being experimented with. :joy:

The redesign looks like it makes more sense like explained in the post.

Back left had all the zits. Very odd. But print failed and was air printing for a while.

Just did a cold pull and it came out clean. Going to do two segments since I don’t have enough on the spool for 4 I think. Drying my reserve spool now.

I did figure out why the back left is just all trash. It’s where the layer is complete and the strider moves back to the start so it has a very brief pause before moving to the next layer. Not sure what setting would fix that but I just need 3 more tire segments so I can move onto straps with this color before switching over to bright pink.

Hand grip test. Comes out like trash…I tried manually painting on supports and Bambu lab says I need to enable supports. But it’s on…

check by objects and make sure its on for that object

Ok. Will do

The actual fix is an X2D with that sweet PLA support

My TPU assist motor came in yesterday so I am excited to try it out when I get back home next week. 4 weeks of traveling on this boat is long enough lol. Ready to get home and build some chairs!

I thought I was doing alright and now while cleaning up 8 tire segments I noticed 4 of them had a weird layer line…sure enough poor layer adhesion/bonding AGAIN…I’m very upset

The oddball tall one has two matching good tires that when I pulled them they didn’t fail. I don’t understand. Why is this happening. I have perfectly dried TPU, the stupid TPU assist module…I’m using the same profile as everyone else.

Do I need to buy a new nozzle? Pretty sure this current .4 only has maybe 1000 hours on it.

Have any other TPU you can run a test piece with?
