We applied for the 3D TMT due to spinal cancer limiting movement in Jaxson’s left leg. At the time, there were very few makers in Australia, and we were unable to have one made for him. Instead of giving up, we decided to buy a Bambu Lab P2S and try to make one ourselves.
With the help of the excellent design by MakeGood and the amazing 3DTMT Discord community, we were able to successfully print and build Jaxson’s chair. We even customised parts of it, including making custom wheels and adding extra printed details to match his Spider-Man theme.
The entire chair printed with only two failed prints throughout the whole process, which honestly blew us away. Once assembled, it turned out absolutely awesome.
Jaxson’s PTs and OTs are now helping train him to use it properly, and he already prefers going out in his chair over the pram because he can see so much more of the world around him. Everywhere we go, people stop to ask about it or comment on how incredible the chair is.
Being able to build something so life-changing for our son ourselves has been an amazing experience, and we’re incredibly grateful to the 3DTMT community for making that possible.
We are now looking forward to delivering our first completed chair to donate to another family, so another child can experience the same freedom and happiness Jaxson has found through his chair.
With love,
The Simpson Family
