Push handle breaking offten

Is it just me. I break at least two top push handles per build.

This one was ready to go and it broke when lightly bumped against the door frame. Can we reinforce this thing.

Where is it breaking? Can you post a picture? I haven’t broken one yet. I guess I’m lucky.

The latest file on MakerWorld already has some improvements, are you working with that file?

i printed it from makerworld 3 days ago. Going to have to push my meet up with the family. I can’t grab a picture because i’m at work but right where the first mend is after it meets the lower part. The first one broke when removing the supports.

Check your wall loops on the prints, I noticed on the newer files they have more infill and 4 wall loops on the handles. I’ve never even thought about them breaking when I print them they are pretty sturdy.

What brand filament are you using?

so right now eegloo rapid petg. But i have had it break with the kit. I think it gets weak when I am inserting the plug to hold them together? Maybe the banging that pin in with a rubber mallet is doing it. Will reprint today

Now that i think about it. Do you think I am mixing an old pug for it with a new handle? Could that be whats splitting it???

That is definitely possible if you are swapping REV versions but I’m also not sure if the plug changed. You shouldn’t really need to hit the plug super hard to get it in. You are sliding it in, not forcing it.

its never slid in easily for me even with soap.

I usually have to make sure I really clear the hole of any support material and maybe even sand a little. Then I would say I tap it with a rubber hammer to get it to slide in. It it hard to describe but I’m just tapping it, definitely not hitting super hard to force it in.

you’re putting the side pieces on first, then the final plug?

yes. and using blue dawn to help glide it. Like i would if i were doing any car part

I never thought to do it that way. That’s genius!

ive got on my list to had some internal structure to reinforce the top handle - thanks

Can you help me get a new handle in the meantime to the mom.

She’s hours away and devastated while I’m out of town. I hate it to break again

I was having problems with them breaking, but then painted on some supports about 1/3 of the way up and now they print great! And with my normal support settings you can even tell the support was there. I think they were starting to get too long out at that angle before they got to the support at the end and it was causing some deflection and bad layer adhesion. Ever since I added the support its been great!

Where are they located?

I wonder if it would be OK with Admin to deliver the TMT at your scheduled time without the broken piece and provide the new print of that piece later?

Yes I did with my last two builds- using sunlu petg.. I think it was the old version. I’m printing a handle soon so we will see

It was awful as soon as I broke mine the family I delivered to last week had a breakage in the same spot.

I’ll be reprinting both tonight

N gave me another profile with supports I’ll try.

I’ll reprint both tonight. Both families are in Michigan.

One at the Ann arbor hospital one at the Detroit children’s hospital.
