I have printed this half a dozen times and I am failing miserably. Printing on Bambu X1C, Comgrow TPU 95a, generic TPU settings, I have slowed it down even more, painted on supports. I can’t get the bottom to print smooth. The other TPU prints are good, it’s just the bottom of this Push Handle Grip that I can’t get right.
Chamfers against the print bed are just so very difficult to produce with 3d printing. The model should be changed to work better with the medium. Changing the model to start with a Chamfer at the top and the bottom would be a marked improvement in the quality.
Here’s a video describing the issue and the technique to resolve this. You only need to see the first three and a half minutes to get the idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uhL0Js9MoI
Thank you, but I thought we couldn’t modify and change the models? That’s why I have been trying to get the bottom to print better as is.
You’re right. We’re not to modify any files as far as I’m aware.
Someone may come along shortly, but there’s a massive thread on this somewhere, can’t remember the outcome but there was a resolution I’m sure, sorry I’m not being much help. Hopefully someone will be able to link to it!
Thank you, I tried searching but am failing to find a link.
Yes I have done this for all of them… the prints also mold to the supports.
@MakeGood_Noam this would be a great improvement in the next revision, to change from a fillet to a chamfer. Or vice versa, I get the 2 terms mixed up. Make it a diagonal wedge shape on the ends instead of curved. This piece is difficult to print cleanly.
The footrest would benefit from that too.
I think @Little_Charlie was the one who resolved with support settings and painting on as she showed above. Don’t K ow if he used petg and TPU mix though?
I don’t think I can do PETG and TPU together on the X1C?
Nope. Need a dual extruder I believe.
Again, I’m sure somewhere there’s support settings that help SO THE TPU doesn’t mold together.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I’m not suggesting that you change the model. I’m suggesting that the model’s author change it.
Ok thank you. I will keep working at it. I just really don’t like how the one area looks on them.
Ohhhh how do you add the name? Are we allowed? Are we allowed to change orientation also?
Also what tpu is this? Love that color
This is the result. I use the .4 nozzle with standard settings except the painted on supports as in the pics above. Printing on my A1 with the dry box up and over an empty spool with no tubing. The support on the base comes right off and I mean right off. Bottom as clean as the top. Inside supports stick a little, but it’s inside. Only printing TPU. Supports are TPU.
Think you may be the envy of some people with that!
That looks good! I repainted just those layers and am going to try again
I ask this to almost everyone, how do you like the U1? That looks great with PLA supports. What do you get as a total time with the U1 for the handle and do you add supports at the inside top part? Thanks
