Hello All! I’m very new to this site, just received my maker approval and was scrolling through the section “Ready to Claim”. I noticed quite a few of these requests that only have an “age” and “zip”. No picture, name, story, and have been sitting for (in most cases) more than 30 days.
Are these sitting because people don’t feel connected to their request (very ambiguous) or because the assumption is they are not legit requests. I know the process on our end as Makers requires submitting proof of print capability and quality but was wondering if the 3d-mobility.org site has a similar vetting process for applicants on the other side of the house.
With so many requests, it seems intuitive to choose someone who has been waiting the longest, but there are other requests on the list that provide some details, a personal message, color preference, etc. that immediately look more appealing to help just because it looks like a real person not a bot behind the request.
A lot of the older request were from before the new site was operational. And things have been added a long the way to ask for more information from the families. There is no requirement for them to give it. Some families are very open and share, others are very private. I wouldn’t let the lack of info on the build story detour you from choosing a request.
That’s good to know! Just paranoid that I spend the time and resources and then see my build on Marketplace a week later. (The internet has made me a cynic at times.)
I’m dealing with the same in my area. I will fire off a public question to the waiting families to see if they’re still in need, those that reply move forward. Those that don’t reply, take the request number and message the admins with then and they get poked.
