Casters parts question

The small casters linked on the pdf are out of stock on Amazon. I found the following ones at Lowe’s. Are they close enough to equivalent to be substituted?

Similar question but for the back caster. The McMaster part with shipping is 56.81. Is the following an acceptable substitute? (If not I’ll gladly order McMaster Carr)

The main difference are the shape of the break lever and plate this is how it fits in the print

This is my first build here so I want to be sure and get it right.

Thanks

You can get a set of 4 for $27- It needs a modified rear caster wheel mount (which is on here) I would wait for the designer to reply.

@NWCC He can set you strait - there is another thread on this

Yes I use the casters from Amazon. And those work with the modified parts in the Google Drive. I know some don’t like the orange wheel but that’s what I had to test with and they have gone out on 2 chairs already with zero issues. You can’t see it under the chair anyways.

Has anyone used the casters offered by Harbor Freight? They have a great offering at an extremely low cost.

I have not. Would need to see the exact height of them to see if they would work or not. And see how the plate size works as well. The ones I linked and the edited files fit great and are tested. If you plan to build more than 1 chair then it makes sense to go that route. If you are only planning to build one or 2 then I can see not ordering the pack of 4. My first chair I did the one from McMaster and it was just ridiculously expensive, I had a set of 4 of the Amazon casters at my house for another stalled project so I used them.

im almost positive these are the same casters - Amazon.com: Swivel Caster Wheels Rubber Base with Top Plate & Bearing Heavy Duty with Pack of 4 Black by Online Best Service (1.5" NO Brake) : Industrial & Scientific - i just ordered some to verify

These casters fit perfectly - that’s the model I just used in an assembly I am working on.

great, I will update the instructions asap

Wow - the front casters went way up in price, the 12 pack was $30- / the new 4 pack is $17-

Why is there a left and right STL for the rear caster? I would like to use the orange ones but want to get the correct file to print.

I made the file for the orange Amazon casters. They are slightly different. One has a longer slot where the caster plate goes so they parts can slide together on the flanges. You need to print one of each. Assuming you are using the ones from my google drive link

Speaking of alternative parts is there an alternative to the long screws? McMaster doesn’t have any currently in stock for pickup at my local one and I really don’t want to pay double the price just to get them shipped.

I plan on just waiting until they have them for pickup but was just seeing if there were alternatives since that’s the last thing I need to complete another chair.

Someone else suggested these from Amazon on another thread. I ordered some and they look like they will be perfect.

The 110mm is the right length. However, you will still need locknuts.

Yes, good point. I do not use the nuts that came with those, but purchased the locknuts here.

Yes :100:

here are the ones I chose. Amazon

They worked great for me

Gosh. With you guys I don’t have to do any searching. Just read the group notes.

Are those strong enough, I know the master one mention high strength so just wanted to check.

I truly don’t see how they couldn’t be. We aren’t trying to hold 200 lbs here. The plastic will break long before these bolts ever will.

Good point. I just didn’t have to think about it for the last one, everything was in stock locally and I just easily picked it up. But I am not paying $10 to ship a $12 bag of screws.
