TPU handling for a newbie

Hi All!

I am printing on a Elegoo Centauri and also an elegoo neptune to complete my TMT.

It is my first time handling TPU and the struggle is REAL. 1. Straps will print and consistently have wide gaps ever 2/3 inches. I have tried many things but was curious what is everyones typical troubleshoot process. I hate the idea of wasting filament and seem to be doing a lot of this in this process.

Welcome to the forum @allyni87!

What filament are you using for your TPU and what Volumetric speed do you have the filament set for?

I had to modify my Centauri Carbon a bit to get TPU to work on it. The normal filament path has too much friction for TPU to feed reliably.

So I printed this and feed the filament from the top instead.

I only use that for TPU though. For PETG and PLA I remove that and feed it from the side like normal.

SUNLU TPU-Silk and Overture , the speed for most of the prints i have at 20mms

Print speed isnt the issue. Its volumetric flow though the extruder/nozzle. BUT I would think that 20mm/s print speed would keep the flow plenty low enough. I would check out @psychedup74 suggestion. Makes a ton of sense.

Def will do, I haven’t tried printing TPU from that one yet but will def try that out! TY!

I print all my TPU on a Bambu A1, humidity is around 40% RH. This has been an issue using an open spool. Anything over 24 hours and prints started getting stringy and showing defects. I solved it like this:
