Let’s just say that as I was driving away, I forgot every failed print and blob of TPU!
I came home to my second TMT almost complete, with only a single TPU cushion left to print while I was gone. And a great big BLOB, dead center, that was no longer a big deal!!
Getting to meet the family and see the child set in it for the first time is down right amazing! My first 2 I never got to meet, but the 3rd I was able to and it made all the difference! Monday we are delivering 2 more and will get to meet both families again this time. I am looking forward to it so much!
My first delivery was pretty awful—I was first given the wrong directions, but I still managed to get to the meeting spot on time. Parent who was supposed to pick it up was 30 minutes late, and when she arrived, there was no apology or sign of remorse, and she didn’t bother taking her headphones off when talking to me. I had to keep reminding myself that this TMT was not for her, but for a child in need, and despite my irritation, she was doing the right thing. I delivered my second one yesterday, and that experience was completely different and validating! Can’t wait for the next one!
So I will be dropping off my first TMT Saturday. So I printed one as a test to see if I could. The family that wanted the camo TMT got back to me and said that they love the chair pics that I sent them (my first chair) lol… so I found it a home. We are both excited and I’m bringing it to their home. I sent a message to admin to see if they can reassign my first independent build to this family. Request #1229
I put one in as an independent build. They don’t approve those near as fast as they do the normal ones. After 2-3 days with no approval I ended up finding one that wanted the colors I had built it as, removed the pending independent build and put it as a request instead. Approved in like 2 hrs lol.
I was blessed to be able to meet the family of my 1st build. They ended up living about 10 minutes away! We have become friends and we text back and forth every couple of weeks. I made them another back cushion since my first one had boogers, and installed it yesterday… the mom has asked me to 3D print a few other things… lol
I’m delivering my second chair on Saturday as well. I was blessed to be able to meet the family, and they were able to pick out the colors… this one is made like Aurora’s (Sleeping Beauty) dress. I hope that they like it…
This is the first hobby that I have had that completely fills my soul! I said that I was going to wait until next month to start another build but…
That’s part of what happened to me. I made an order of Blue and Green from Schoolhouse. Then claimed a chair that wanted Red/Orange So turned around and ordered that from them as well. Some how the red/orange got here in 5 days. Took 3 weeks for the Blue/Green lol. But now that these 2 are built and ready, and the Blue/green had arrived, I just had to grab another. I just wish some would pop up closer to me lol. Everything is 250ish miles away.
Yeah it would be a lot easier if I had more closer. But I don’t mind the drive. Monday will be roughly 465mi round trip. But thankfully meeting both families at the same place so it should work out great!
I owned 4 spools of TPU for the last year. I used about 100g from 1 of them. I now have eight different colors, 5 spools each… I jump in with both feet. Hopefully that will keep me busy for the next year
So what is wrong here? Don’t look to hard… I already have 4 pink wheels.. lol. Make sure when you select print, you have the build plate highlighted, not just the part you want to print…lol - things that happen at 2 am when you want to keep your printers busy. I guess I’m going to except the next pink/purple TMT near me
I have done that a few times. One thing that helps is being zoomed in on the plate you “think” you are trying to print. Then when you click slice and the screen looks blank it triggers that your on the wrong plate
This kind of community building is the ENTIRE reason we started the matching platform. The gial is for everyone to create connections and communities and work to support eachother. I absolutely love that yall are keeping in touch and you continue to be a resource for this family. Great work to everyone!
I just ended up in the same boat lol. Was very proud of myself with timing the end of one print with the other. Had 3 minutes to reset–did it in 2…..This is the result
Good thing blue is a very popular color. Easily reusable on another chair.
I had the opposite problem on this last chair. I thought I had all the parts printed, turns out I was missing 3 that I had to hurry up and print last min, and then broke another one. Thankfully its all together now and waiting to be approved!
