All loaded up to head up to Birmingham, AL tomorrow morning and deliver #4&5. Some of the last few parts for #6 are printing away now. Thanks to @Nonny these will be some of the most special parts we have done yet!
Looking forward to seeing it!!
And I love that red/orange combo!
We delivered the āBlueyā TMT this morning. It was a hit!
Iām loving designing the wheels. Theyāre like two big, round blank canvases! I keep designing different designs/characters.
It was just a coincidence that after I had designed the wheels (just for fun), someone actually said their child loves Bluey , that I saw their request and they lived fairly close to me!
@NWCC as always fantastic work! You are a true hero!!
@Nonny i love the bluey wheels! There are several requests for Bluely thermoses chairs I think itās great!
Delivery went great! @CCJ and I had a great time meeting Janie and talked to her mom and also her nurse for almost an hour. The other mom just grabbed the chair, said thanks and left. Thatās ok though, I know not everyone wants to stand around and meet strangers.
I am going to be printing a second rear strap and clips to mail to her. We tested out her oxygen tank and I just felt a second strap higher would be a lot safer.
All in all it was another great experience! And yes my knees are sore from bending down like that ![]()
I do have to reprint the bottom right one. When I changed the outer color to blue instead of white I missed the black on the outside
But it still looks great I think. About to print the other wheel now and then I will print that one part to replace my screw up.
Oh and for anyone wondering. 12 1/2 hrs in the truck today. Around 650 miles round trip. Iām tired ![]()
Oh noooo! But, yes, looks great! Amazing how clean the lines are, right?!?!
Iām designing the wheels for my next build. 9 colors and a whole lot more detail! So far, so good! But I canāt say no to a request without even trying.
9!?!?! Thats crazy! Cant wait to see how that looks! I had to turn off one of my printers and hook the AMS up to the other to get to 5 colors lol. I see a second AMS being ordered soon ![]()
Congratulations on the delivery. I know Iām going to get one of those deliveries that doesnāt go as planned, but after seeing the family, father at the door, not expecting us⦠Mother had to run out to pick up their third child. Dad brought out the little guy, explained his challenges. Five years old, non-verbal, canāt get around. Father was just as happy as anyone Iāve ever met. With everything going on in this families life, I canāt even imagine what their day must be like. Dad is an HVAC mechanic / Iām an Electrical contractor, instant bond. We chatted for a few minutes, said our goodbyes. Mom texted saying she was sorry she wasnāt there and thanking us. Told us they already had an appointment with his medical team. My 8 and 11 year old were with my wife and I. It was a real teaching moment. Life isnāt all about āmeā it isnāt about stuff, it is much more, and how we can positively impact the lives of others is a very important part. Again to everyone reading this, thank you for all you do everyday to make someoneās life a little better. ![]()
Oh absolutely! I donāt expect everyone to want to meet and all. And that is perfectly fine with me. I still put the same amount of effort into the chair no matter what. But it is a little more gratifying when you get to see the child use it and light up. Out of 5 chairs now, we have gotten to see that with 2 and its made everything more than worth it! In a few more days we will see how #6 goes.
Just put an extra storage strap and clips in the mail to this pink/purple chair we delivered yesterday. We tested out her oxygen tank and I just didnāt like how low the single strap on the tank was. So we talked with them and I gave them some ideas on where to put this second one at. Hopefully that makes it more secure!
Fixed and looks so much better! Last plate printing for the second wheel now!
Donāt mind my messy desk⦠Too much going on and cleaning aināt one of them ![]()
I love this. The challenge is the Mother of my current build is looking through all the crazy builds and forwarding me pictures⦠can you build this⦠No⦠can you build this⦠No⦠etc⦠etc⦠She does love the four colors we came up with, but with fails and challenges Iām currently up to 293 hours on my P2S and 342 hours on my A1. Now I do have two spare front wings and two spare wheels (less TPU), But 600 plus hours and it will look nothing like yoursā¦lol. What are the kits coming with? One color? Two colors? I only wish I was at your level. Iām happy I can now print TPU without having to spend a weekend clearing a clogā¦lol.
You see that print from me 100% because of @Nonny! We are working on a google drive that we can put all of the different files in to share with everyone for the wheels. Also hoping I can learn how to do it and help make more of them.
What kind of failures are you having? Believe me I have had more than my fair share. I just know what I did wrong most of the time so I press on lol. Thankfully the more of these I build I have my settings dialed in much better and Iām having less and less failures. TPU was the hardest to get right by far. And your file made the biggest difference! Right now I have a test print going for TPU straps with a .6 nozzle. I āthinkā I have figured out how to do it and they still come out the correct thickness. Also printing all the PETG parts with a .6 nozzle and .3mm layer height makes a huge difference in time as well. Not to mention getting high speed PETG helps a ton as well.
Turned out PERFECT!! Great job!
You guys Rock! Oh and I learn from every failure lol. Iāve only had really two PETG failures this entire journey, unfortunately both on the same 14 hour part one after another. The first the support on a wheel mount which is right on the ragged edge of the plate broke loose. Cleaned the plate and upped the bed temp 5 C. Take away - great time to clean the plate before those real big parts. Then on the same part with like an hour to go the filament broke inside the Boden tube when changing spools. Bad luck with that one. Checked the spools and it all looked great. No further problems.
When I get this all dialed in - and Iām very close. Then Iāll change it up and try a .6 lol
Thanks! Of course⦠As soon as I mark the chair as āAssemblingā I knocked one of them off the desk onto the concrete floor in here
Yeah⦠Thatās going to be another reprint. Just waiting for the foot rest that I somehow forgot to print to finish then Ill start that piece. Oh and I found out the bolts I bought off Amazon trying to save a little over the McMaster Carr price, the heads are too big so now I get to spend some time with a grinder to shave them down a little. Not going my way today unfortunately. Oh well. It could always be a LOT worse! Pressing on!
Nooooo! Weāre almost done (re)building our home. My ācraftā room is next to be designed and furnished . I have been thinking about a foam pad for over the hardwood floors. (Printer poop and carpet are not a good match) This just helped with my decision!
I use M8-1.25x100 for the footrest bolts. A little too short to use for the axles, but easier to get. I made the mistake of ordering the flanged bolts too! Theyāll work for the axles but donāt fit in the footrest channels. I can get them next day from Amazon.
Yeah the ones I got are the right 110mm length, but the head is too āthickā for the foot rest and for the axles. Printing a holder I drew up real quick in onshape so I can take them out to the garage and grind them down real quick then shoot some paint on them so they donāt rust afterwords. Unfortunately I cant get anything else before Friday, and thatās when I plan to deliver!
When I was starting on my 2nd build, the bolts I got for the first one were not available anymore on Amazon, but I ended up finding these which worked great for and now I have enough for 2 more builds. You have to use a hex driver with them though.
