I just want to be clear, I think MakeGood is doing an excellent job. You can’t work with this many people without having some issues like this pop up.

Thanks. I enjoy it and already have the ability to print enough colors and my collection of PETG colors is growing, and the wheels use very little of each one so that makes it easy
MakeGood and every single maker are doing amazing!
Yeah honestly a couple makers with the collection of color is probably the best way to handle the custom wheels. They do use so little color but you need them all before you can print a single custom with the colors. The main issue is the shipping cost and of course your time.
I don’t care about the time lol. I just enjoy doing it. Just make sure you get your request in plenty of time for me to print them and ship them. And so far shipping has run around $10~. But I know some of them are having price increases soon.
Part of the challenge is the gallery… You all are doing some amazing work, going way above and beyond. Me I’m happy some days I get my shoes on the right feet…
I’m working with a family and they are great, but most don’t know some things aren’t the norm. This is a text I got this morning for example.
I told them that there haven’t been any modifications or accessories approved by MakeGood that are available to me at this time and they were cool with that and that some things most likely be available in the future.
Guess it’s my fault…
“I know these take very long to make but she only gets accept one time for a request that’s put in. But she is a little girl and has a feeding tube and white is very easily to get dirty. And I just think as the builder you could have always messaged and made aware that there was only one color and if white was okay as another color to go with the purple.”
I’ve asked the admins to reopen their request and I will move on to someone else…
That looks so cute, the handle is kind of pink, and the white is shiny! I like your response about passing it along to another family who would want it. I’ve been so nervous about this happening so I hate to see it happening to you. I try to post pictures of the planned colors I’m using and then progress photos in case something comes up. But so far they’ve never said anything, positive or negative, so I had to wait until delivery to see if they liked it.
I’m glad you’re moving on because another family will be happy with the one you made, and this family can get the one they want, they will just have to wait longer but it’s not your fault because they didn’t specify in the first place.
Sorry this is going the way it is. I’m delivering my third TMT tomorrow, am almost done with #4 and #5 I’m in the communication and color planning phase. The second TMT I delivered was actually the first I built. I built one just to see if I could before I accepted a build. When I showed the second family a pic of the first TMT to show them what could be done, they were like “is that one available” I was like yes. They said it was beautiful even though it was built with none of the colors they requested. They were so happy to have it and I delivered it a day or two after I actually accepted the build…lol. I say all this to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Thank you for being a Maker, Thank you for donating your time and money to do something for a child and a family you don’t even know, Thank you for doing something less than 1% of the population is able to do, let alone willing to do. Thank you

Your TMT looks Amazing!
-
You cannot and should not try to please everyone.
-
Do not engage with this individual—pass this along to the admin team, and forget it like a bad dream. You are 100% right–mobility is the priority.
-
While an argument can be made that this parent is stressed and lashing out, everyone has their baggage. It is not your job to handle it.
-
You have an amazing TMT ready to go. Find another request that has similar requirements, message them, and ask if they would like it. I guarantee it will not stay with you for long.
-
My first delivery was very disheartening (2 hours each way, very cold response). 5 others were amazing. Don’t let this discourage you.

Remember that parents are not the primary beneficiaries of these devices, kids are.
Extremely well said @TDK1013!!!
Thank you for that. I appreciate your thoughts and input.. feeling less defeated
Onto the next. You’ll make someone really happy and appreciative with that chair
The color choices of Blue and Purple may not tell the whole story if they are gradients.
I looked at the request side earlier just because I was curious, and there is an “other” option. But I am not sure what happens when they select that. It seems more are starting to put more info in with what their child is into and all, and that is super helpful. This is all a very evolving system and its great how much MakeGood is receptive to our comments and suggestions!
that’s already in the works.
All of yall have handled this situation extremely well. I messaged the family to set expectations for the next build, and I unassigned the maker and set the request back to open. Everyone is trying to do their best. Yall are the heart and soul of this project and you put in so much time, money, and effort, I totally understand this can be a little disheartening. But, this is what happens when working with a wide variety of people. We do our best.
Something to keep in mind is that these families are under a lot of stress and pressure just being parents to disabled kiddos. Its understandable they might overlook something, or otherwise act in ways that are hard to understand. I am not excusing anything, just acknowledging we are dealing with an already difficult situation.
Thank yall again for everyone kind words and sentiments. Lets keep working together on this stuff and I know we can take on any challenges that arise.
I agree, I would move on to another family if they don’t like the colors. As a special needs mom.. I would be happy with any color!
Dditzel,
I think your TMT looks amazing! It will be loved by another family and it will put smiles on their faces. Keep up the great work!
Well, some good news! I found another family, reached with some pics and their reply was as expected “Yes it looks perfect!”
That’s great news! And now they don’t have to wait because its already built!
