Can we print test models and 3DTMT parts in ABS instead of PETG?

I just found out about the 3DTMT and signed up to validate as a maker. I’ve got an H2D and I should be good to print the test model in ABS and in prod as well. Is it kosher for me to do that and go forward with ABS or is it PETG only?

Curious on this also. I print mostly in ABS/ASA, so the TMT was my first time using PETG on my current printer. It’s been a challenge dialing in the profile.

I think we’ll need to defer to Noam or Scott to answer though. PETG may actually be better for this project than ABS. PETG tends to flex more than other materials before it breaks. With such thin walls (2 loops) and low infill, PETG might be part of how this chair supports weight without breaking.

That, and tolerances are super tight on this project. Some pins are actually designed larger than the holes where they’re supposed to fit. When accounting for inaccuracies in printing, things get even more tricky. This is an area where PETG’s propensity for flexing is likely a net benefit.

some people have done ABS/ASA. We are generally OK with it as long as everything fits
